Purposes of processing

The processing of your personal data is essential for providing you with customised insurance advice. It is not possible to conclude and implement an insurance contract without processing your data.

Your data will only ever be used for the purpose specified, for example, at the time of collection, for which you have given your consent, which is evident from the circumstances or which is provided for by law.

Pantaenius processes personal data insofar as this is necessary for business processes such as acquisition, application support, risk assessment of applications, protection against insurance fraud, management of the customer relationship, provision of services, needs-based advice and support, processing of offers and contracts, as well as claims and benefits, invoicing, answering questions and concerns, and the evaluation, improvement and new development of products, services and services. Disclosure of data to third parties

Your personal data may be passed on to third parties (so-called ‘data processors’) for the aforementioned purposes and/or to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory provisions. Pantaenius may also outsource business areas, individual steps in the value chain and/or services (e.g. service processing, IT, contract administration, product development) in whole or in part to third parties in Switzerland and abroad. If necessary, Pantaenius or the data processors will consult with third parties (e.g. your doctor, your therapist or the hospital, the previous insurer) with your consent, depending on the insurance cover to be checked.

Your personal data will only be transferred to data processors abroad if they are subject to appropriate data protection laws. If data is transferred to a country without adequate data protection, Pantaenius ensures adequate protection through the use of sufficient contractual guarantees or relies on the exception of consent, contract processing or the establishment, exercise and enforcement of legal claims. Contractual safeguards are based on standard data protection clauses adopted by a supervisory authority.

Data may also be passed on for the purpose of detecting or preventing insurance fraud, in particular to insurers in Switzerland and abroad and to law enforcement authorities.

We use cross-website tools to present you with personalised information for marketing purposes, including outside of our website. These enable personalised online advertisements and extended analysis and evaluation options regarding the target group and user behaviour.

Storage period

Pantaenius processes personal data for as long as this is necessary for the fulfilment of the above-mentioned purposes. We process and store your personal data for as long as is necessary for the fulfilment of our contractual and legal obligations or otherwise for the purposes pursued with the processing, i.e. for example for the duration of the entire business relationship (from the initiation, processing to the termination of a contract) and beyond that in accordance with the statutory retention and documentation obligations. It is possible that personal data may be stored for the period during which claims can be asserted against our company or the insurance companies involved and insofar as we are otherwise legally obliged to do so or legitimate business interests require this (e.g. for evidence and documentation purposes). As soon as your personal data is no longer required for the above-mentioned purposes, it will be deleted or anonymised as far as possible. Shorter retention periods of twelve months or less generally apply to operational data (e.g. system protocols, logs).

Provision of data

The policyholder or claimant must provide the data required for risk assessment, contract and claims settlement. If he fails to fulfil this obligation, the conclusion of the contract or the payment of the claim may be refused in whole or in part.

Data security

When processing personal data, Pantaenius takes appropriate technical and organisational measures to prevent unauthorised access and other unauthorised processing. These are based on industry standards in this area and are regularly reviewed and, if necessary, adapted accordingly.

Communication via e-mail

Please note that communication by e-mail is generally not encrypted. There is a possibility that data may be lost or intercepted and/or manipulated by third parties. Pantaenius takes suitable technical and organisational security measures to prevent this within the Pantaenius system. However, your access device (PC, smartphone, etc.) is located outside the security area that can be controlled by Pantaenius. It is your responsibility as a user of the Internet to inform yourself about the necessary security precautions and to take appropriate measures (e.g. up-to-date virus protection, etc.).

Communication via internet contact form

If you contact Pantaenius via the Internet contact form, the data entered in these forms will be transmitted from your PC in encrypted form in accordance with internationally recognised security standards in order to protect it against misuse by third parties.

You can visit the Pantaenius website anonymously without having to provide any personal details. To do this, you must deactivate the tracking function. In any case, your IP address will only be processed in pseudonymised form.

Personal data is only processed if you provide it as part of one of the applications on the website (e.g. via a contact form, a request for a quote, an offer, a premium calculator, an online contract, a claims notification, a competition, etc.). This personal data is not transmitted or made available to third parties for any other purpose.

The data you transmit to Pantaenius via the Pantaenius website is encrypted. However, Pantaenius accepts no liability for any damage you may suffer as a result of data loss or manipulation. Therefore, please ensure that your system is adequately protected at all times (e.g. virus protection) and that your systems and browsers are up to date.

The providers of Pantaenius's Internet pages collect and store data in so-called log files when they are accessed. This involves the following data:

• Date and time of access to the Pantaenius website
• Name of the website accessed
• Definition of the retrieved files (downloads)
• Notification of successful retrieval
• Previously visited page Information on the user agent (browser, operating system)

This data is not stored together with other personal data of the user. In addition, this data is only collected for statistical purposes of website use, security and to optimise the offer and the website and is not forwarded to third parties for other purposes. This data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected or there is no legal basis for its retention. As the access data is absolutely necessary for the provision of the website, there is no option to object to this data processing.

In some cases, third-party services are displayed on the Pantaenius website. The functionality of these services requires that the providers store your IP address. Pantaenius attaches great importance to the fact that only those services are used whose respective providers only use the IP address to deliver the respective services. Your IP address is processed by third parties in accordance with their data protection provisions.

Among other things, you have the right to request information about your personal data processed by Pantaenius and, under certain conditions, to have this personal data corrected, transferred, blocked or deleted.

Right to access and information

You have the right to obtain information about your personal data processed by Pantaenius. You can send your request for information to Pantaenius in writing, enclosing a copy of your identity card or passport, to the Pantaenius contact address.

Right to rectification

If, despite Pantaenius's efforts to ensure that your data is correct and up to date, incorrect information about you is stored, this will be corrected at your request. You will be informed after the correction.

Right to erasure
